Back in 2007, when BQS was in it’s infancy, Mike came up to me out of the blue and said he wanted me to write a song that we’d call Conquistador. Being Hispanic, that’s a heavy word. It forced me to sit down and really reflect on what I wanted to portray musically. I tried to imagine what type of man would sail across waters to new lands and mercilessly conquer native people. The first crack at Conquistador was a five-minute song that was heavy on the groove but didn’t have enough force. I worked on it for about six months before bringing it back. D2 added his flair to the new riff, and we stripped most of the fluff to create a very raw, lean, fierce song. - Pez Lopez
lyrics
Conquistador
Please forgive me, mama
Please forgive me, yeah
Please forgive me, mama
This is your lover
Whoever made it the way it was, the way before, it’s over now, the past is past
Whoever said let’s just put this down and not look back, get over it, that would be a blast
PRECHORUS
But your dreams, are they nice dreams, are they nice dreams or screams
Yes your dreams, are they nice dreams, are they nice dreams
CHORUS
This is your lover
Strong enough to take one for the team
This is your lover
Please, forgive me, and bring me my love again
Whoever made it the way it was a little bit
Is at who we mad a little bit
But to who we sadly cannot be admitting it
But it’s leaks like these that are peace to my soul
And I seem like a freak but I’m trying to be whole
PRECHORUS…
…do you long for anyone?
Are they nice dreams, are they nice dreams or screams
Do you grieve for anyone?
Are they nice dreams, are they nice dreams
CHORUS
And bring me my love again…
The past is past and time is past and time is fast can I come back,
bring me my love again
The past is past and time is past can I come back,
Bring me my love again (times 2)

Formed in Houston, TX but hailing from across the country, Black Queen Speaks came together for a common love of the
almighty groove. Their sound is an amalgamation of blues, hard rock, grunge, 70’s funk, dance, and soul peppered with flourishes of 90’s hip hop. In short, Black Queen Speaks can best be described as if Jane’s Addiction and Soundgarden got their asses kicked by James Brown....more
