about

Jaguar is a funny little beast. I remember working on the song relentlessly when D2 and I first started jamming, even before Black Queen Speaks came together. Playing the song each time back then was like picking off a scab, just to let it heal again. Once it was brought back from the grave with BQS, it took on a whole new life and was ever-changing until we finally came to an arrangement that was working really well. Our producer, Eric Jarvis of Crushpad Productions, put his own spin on it, and it became one of my favorite songs to play on the new record. - Josh Skiffington

lyrics

Jaguar

Said the days been hard so I’ll keep this soft
And you look so tired won’t you take that off
Yeah you lit your fire and you paid the cost
Is the war you wage worth the loss?

CHORUS
Danger, love is a critical stranger, mami
I see you looking for a savior
But would you give up all your ancient anger for it?

This is your heart again, your sleeping heart again
We want your life, we want your mind we want your start again
This is the truth of it, the living proof of it
We want your high, we want your high, what we won’t do for it

CHORUS

This is your heart again, heart again won’t you start again
You go open for a moment but then you hard again
This is the truth of it, truth of it living proof of it
You go rocketing in a rocket hit the roof again

I said, Danger, love is a critical stranger, mami
I see you looking for a sainted savior but your behavior
Seems like you don’t wanna be saved

That’s enough for now we gon let you mend
Til you least suspect this is not the end
I started your panic attack and I’ll do it again
Til the lights come on in you, my friend.

about

Black Queen Speaks Houston, Texas

Formed in Houston, TX but hailing from across the country, Black Queen Speaks came together for a common love of the almighty groove. Their sound is an amalgamation of blues, hard rock, grunge, 70’s funk, dance, and soul peppered with flourishes of 90’s hip hop. In short, Black Queen Speaks can best be described as if Jane’s Addiction and Soundgarden got their asses kicked by James Brown. ... more
