about

I was listening to a ton of Queens of the Stone Age and had recently purchased a bicycle to commute to work. There’s a certain Zen in fighting for your life navigating Houston streets while listening to music at 11. This was around 2008, and I was also very into the early metal movement. I wanted to write something that had a tantric groove and the balls of those early metal bands. The song really didn’t do anything until Mike came up with his theme of trying to get into the head of an abused women in a dead-end relationship. It’s probably my favorite song on the record. - D2 Day

lyrics

KFC

Girl he said he love me and he telling the truth
Girl he said he love me I’m the one that he choose
Some days are so mellow saying hello to you
He start seeing read and I am the fool singing the blues

Is there anymore room in my heart?
Naivete’s lead me here but I’ve grown.
If he thinks me is gon live this way, oh no
If he thinks me is gon live this way, oh no.

PRECHORUS
I’m not walking with this gun to my head, yeah. (times 4)

CHORUS
You said that you wanted me, well I can take you there.
And now you won’t let me breathe and I am breaking here.
You don’t have much to say, all you can say to me,
Is where the f!$%’s my fried chicken I just got in the door
My feet so tired why you starting the war.
The beat down went right there at the top of the stair
And nobody give a fuck about me.

PRECHORUS

CHORUS

First with the head and then with heart,
Til death do us part, singing I love you babe (times 2)

Black Queen Speaks Houston, Texas

Formed in Houston, TX but hailing from across the country, Black Queen Speaks came together for a common love of the almighty groove. Their sound is an amalgamation of blues, hard rock, grunge, 70’s funk, dance, and soul peppered with flourishes of 90’s hip hop. In short, Black Queen Speaks can best be described as if Jane’s Addiction and Soundgarden got their asses kicked by James Brown. ... more
